Hi
everyone,
Welcome to
another tennis season, enrolments are now open for both Sunday coaching –Tennis
Hot Shots Programme and club teams (known as interclub) for the 2017-18 season.
There have been no changes to the membership fees for the 2017-18 season.
Here are the enrolment forms and guidelines, please ensure
you read the guidelines:
(Click on the italic words to go to the forms. NB: to download the
enrolment form, go to "File" and select "Download as...." and then
select file type, eg RTF or Word).
Please DO NOT attempt
to enrol via the Ngaio Tennis website (http://www.ngaiotennis.co.nz/) This is for existing members to gain
log-in details for court bookings. If you enrol on the website, we may miss it
and we cannot guarantee your enrolment.
If you have completed the Ngaio Club Sunday coaching last
season or had some previous coaching elsewhere you may wish to consider playing
in a club team (known as interclub) for the upcoming season. This involves
playing both doubles and single games each weekend against other clubs. This
helps the players to develop their skills and have fun playing in a team. The
enrolments for club teams close August. For those not familiar with
club teams/interclub as a guide to determine if you are ready to join a club
team ideally you need to be able:
- To hit the ball over the net and return 3-4 hits from the other player.
- Have an attempt at serving, however you are able to bounce and hit the ball on the second attempt to commence the points.
- To understand the basic rules of tennis, e.g. scoring, when to serve, when to change ends. However many players do not know these when starting out and parents are able to assist with scoring in the novice grade.
- For more details see the attached document titled “Joining a club team for this first time”
Closing
dates for registrations are:
·
Junior
interclub registration closes 3rd September 2017
·
Sunday
coaching – Hot Shots Program registration closes 3rd September 2017 (first come, first served)
The
enrolment form includes a "Commitments & Guidelines" section as
part of the enrolment form to ensure players and parents understand the
expectations of the club. Once the junior interclub registrations close the
junior committee will begin to select teams, where required some games may be
organised to establish the appropriate grade/team for a player.
Sunday Coaching – Tennis
Hot Shots Programme
Ngaio, in conjunction with Evolve Tennis, are running Sunday coaching
based on the Tennis Hot
Shots (THS) programme. Ngaio is offering
this programme to all children 5-11 years of age and will run 4 or 5 one hour long
sessions from 9.00am - 1.00pm on Sunday mornings.

Changes to Payments
In
previous years we have asked for payment at the time of enrolment. This year,
no payment is needed at the time of enrolment. Instead, we will invoice each
family containing junior members at the start of September, and you will
receive the invoice via email. Payment by direct credit is preferred if
possible, but if you would rather pay by cash or cheque, please contact one of
us and we can let the Club treasurer know.
For
people who have previously had family memberships, you will be invoiced
separately for junior members in your family rather than via a family
membership. However please let us know the names of adults who are senior
members of the Club, so we can link junior members to them.
Finally…
If you
played junior interclub last year and are not returning this year please let us
know so we can remove you from our emails.
If you have
any queries please send them to ngaiojnrtennis@gmail.com and one of the committee members will come
back to you.
